Iraqi parliament to vote on measures penalizing truancy
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi Parliament on Thursday passed a resolution to dock one million Iraqi dinars (around $660) from the salaries of members who are absent without cause.
The parliamentary media department issued a statement, as reported by 964media:
Acting Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi called for a vote on the measure which penalizes members one million dinars for each unauthorized absence. The policy will take effect starting the next session, following the Parliament’s endorsement of the resolution’s wording.
