Counterfeit money operation uncovered in Najaf

NAJAF — The Intelligence Agency today disclosed the capture of an individual implicated in possessing counterfeit money and the discovery of a currency printing machine at his home in Najaf.

According to a statement provided to 964media, the agency’s Organized Crime Directorate successfully detained the suspect, who was found with fake Iraqi dinars in the Najaf governorate.

The agency stated, “The suspect admitted during interrogation to creating the counterfeit currency using a printer in his residence specifically for that purpose. Legal authorizations were promptly secured, allowing for a search of the premises and the seizure of the printer.”

The agency says the suspect’s confessions have been formally recorded, and his case has been handed over to the judicial authorities to undergo the necessary legal proceedings.
