Attributed to Iranian imports

Prices for fruit, vegetables, drop in Basra markets

BASRA, January 29 — Vegetable and fruit prices at the Republic Market in central Basra saw a decrease on Monday, ranging from 250 to 500 Iraqi dinars per kilogram compared to last week.

Market sellers attribute this decline to an increase in imports from Iran through the Shalamja border crossing.

Mohammed Tahir, a stall owner, told 964media, “The abundance of vegetables and fruits coming from Iran has led to a significant drop in prices, particularly for the main green produce in Basra.”
