Fraudulent property registration scheme exposed in Anbar

ANBAR, January 27 — A fraudulent scheme involving the illegal registration of several state-owned properties in Anbar Governorate was uncovered this Saturday by the Anbar Investigation Department. The operation revealed that employees at the real estate registration directorate in Fallujah had illicitly transferred ownership of 11 properties owned by the Fallujah Municipality Directorate to private individuals.

According to the Government Information and Communications Office, the team from the Anbar Investigation Office discovered that these properties were fraudulently registered using incorrect numbers in a closed register dating back to 2013, a period affected by ISIS control of the city. The properties were unlawfully listed in the names of various individuals without any legal documentation or justification.
