Salary payments at center of boycott

School teachers in Ranya continue protests over unmet demands

RANYA, January 24 — Teachers in Ranya resumed demonstrations on Wednesday, continuing a boycott over unpaid salaries.

While a number of schools in the region have reopened with some teachers returning to classrooms, one protesting teacher told 964media that the boycott in Ranya continues, emphasizing that some teachers will not return to the classroom until their demands are addressed.

The ongoing protest follows a robust statement issued on Tuesday by the General Council of Protesting Teachers, reiterating their boycott until all demands put forth are met, including on-time salary payments.
