KRG addresses media reports on audit collaboration with Baghdad
ERBIL, January 24 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Finance and Economy has issued a statement responding to media reports about a joint effort between Erbil and Baghdad’s Boards of Supreme Audit looking into public-sector employees.
The statement shared that members from the joint team visited KRG ministries and institutions in order to conduct an audit on the numbers of employees, emphasizing transparency of employee and salary records in the region.
The statement also condemned the introduction of obstacles as attempts to impede salary payments, asserting that such actions infringe upon legitimate and straightforward rights of the people.
The KRG said it would pledge to address any legal matters raised by the federal Ministry of Finance, promising written responses and refraining from offering comments.
The statement also urged the media to adopt a professional approach in their coverage and dissemination of news regarding negotiations.
