Baghdad police arrest three accused of impersonating security forces, stealing from citizens

BAGHDAD – Iraq’s Interior Ministry announced Thursday the arrest of a three-member gang in Baghdad’s Karrada area on charges of impersonating security personnel and stealing money from citizens.

In a statement, the ministry said the suspects were tracked and apprehended by Karrada’s Criminal Investigation Department units within 12 hours. It added that the operation demonstrates “the readiness and rapid response” of Rusafa Police Command units in pursuing offenders.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces announced Sept. 11 that its security units arrested a man accused of impersonating PMF officials and defrauding citizens by promising government jobs in exchange for money.
