Kurdistan Security Council: “Publishing fake news will not change the angry public opinion”
ERBIL, January 17– The Kurdistan Regional Security Council said that some Iranian-affiliated agencies have started to mislead the public by publishing fake and unconnected news and photos:
After the recent cowardly missile attacks on Erbil and the strong reaction of the Iraqi federal government in condemning and forming an investigation committee, some Iranian agencies began to publish fake and unconnected news and photos to justify their brutal actions.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is cooperating with the committee formed by the federal government. It is clear that this attack targeted civilians in the Kurdistan Region and these efforts cannot change the angry public opinion in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq against these crimes and violations.
The Kurdistan Region adheres to the Iraqi and regional constitution and laws, and the coalition forces presence in the Kurdistan Region is with the approval of the federal government.
Serious steps must be taken at the Iraqi and international levels to protect the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and protecting our citizens from the threat of regional conflicts.
