Kuwait to host 26th Gulf Cup tournament

BAGHDAD, January 17 — The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation announced on Tuesday that the 26th edition of the Gulf Cup will take place in Kuwait, also indicating that Iraq could be an alternative host candidate.

A statement from federation said:

The Executive Bureau of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation held its first meeting in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, under the presidency of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, the President of the Federation. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Saeed Al-Wahibi, Vice President of the Federation, and members Dr. Hamid Mohammed Al-Shaibani, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Hazam Al-Zahiri, Mr. Haif Hussein Al-Mutairi, Dr. Khaled Abdulaziz Muqren, Mr. Rashid Abdullah Al-Zo’ubi, Mr. Ali Jabbar Abdulredha, and Mr. Jassem Sultan Al-Rumaihi, the Secretary-General of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, the Secretary-General made the following statements:

1. Confirmation of hosting the 26th Gulf Cup tournament in the State of Kuwait from December 13 to 26, 2024.

2. Approval of the Iraqi Football Federation as an alternative federation to the Kuwaiti Football Federation for organizing the 26th Gulf Cup, in accordance with the fundamental regulations of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.

3. Introduction of new tournaments, referral of the matter to the General Secretariat and the Competitions Committee for a comprehensive study, and submission to the Executive Bureau.
