Duhok football club seeks repossession of its stadium vicinity

DUHOK, January 14—Approximately 130 construction material offices, around Duhok Stadium’s vicinity, a previously leased from the stadium, now face eviction as the stadium management seeks repossession.

Covering an area of 18 dunams, Duhok Stadium has issued a mandate for the evacuation of the area by March, prompting concerns and queries from the offices’ representative.

Fazl Kestaie, the representative of the offices,  told 964media, “We’ve been instructed to vacate, but where do we go? We’re initiating discussions with the local municipality.”

Znar Ali, legal representative for Duhok football Club, clarified that the club’s covered area surpasses 18 dunams, with 40 offices, out of 130, falling within the sought-after space, the remaining offices can stay.

Ali asserted, “We have formally requested the land, signaling non-renewal of their contracts, necessitating their departure.”

Ismail Mustafa, media manager for Duhok Municipality, revealed to 964media that office representatives have yet to engage with the municipality presidency. Until such discussions occur, the municipality refrains from commenting on the matter.

Stating that the Duhok club has the right to make their request, Ismail emphasized the need for a formal meeting to address the complexities of the situation.
