Fifteen governorates in the 30s as fall arrives

BAGHDAD — Fifteen governorates are forecast in the 30s on Tuesday as cooler weather spreads across Iraq, with light rain and possible thunderstorms in the north, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.

Duhok, Sulaymaniyah and Nineveh are expected at 32°C, Erbil, Kirkuk and Anbar 33°C and Baghdad 36°C. The south stays warmer, with Maysan and Dhi Qar at 40°C and Basra 42°C. Skies will turn partly cloudy. Northwesterly winds of 10 to 20 km/h will strengthen in the east of the centre and south, gusting to 35 km/h and raising light dust, with visibility of 8 to 10 km falling to 5 to 7 km in dust.

It cools further on Wednesday, to 30°C in Duhok, 31°C in Sulaymaniyah, 32°C in Erbil and Nineveh and 36°C in Baghdad, with light rain still possible in the north.
