Anti-crime unit arrests gang involved in forging documents in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, January 10 — On Wednesday, Baghdad’s anti-crime units arrested a gang of four individuals, including a woman, for the forgery of documents and official correspondence. The gang was involved in executing guarantees within government departments.

Statement:

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Baghdad arrested a gang consisting of four suspects, three men and a woman, for forging documents and official correspondence to facilitate bail procedures within government offices in Baghdad. The arrest took place when the gang members attended the Al-Karrada Criminal Investigation Office to organize financial bail for a theft suspect, who happened to be the brother of one of the gang members.

During the process of organizing the bail and questioning them about the required documents, the suspects appeared confused, arousing suspicion. Upon further investigation and interrogation, they confessed to producing forged documents and falsifying continuity support documents. Upon searching them, stamps for government departments were found in their possession, and they admitted to using them to organize bail in government institutions in exchange for financial sums. The investigating judge was promptly notified, and legal measures were taken against them, leading to their immediate detention based on the provisions of Article 298/292 of the Penal Code.
