Sudani receives proposals for major tourism project in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, August 8 — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani received proposals on Sunday for a major tourism complex project in central Baghdad submitted by the Qatari investment holding company, Investment Holding Group.

Aa statement from Al-Sudani’s media office said:

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Shia’ Al-Sudani reviewed the preliminary plans and overall layout of the project, which includes the construction of a large tourist complex in central Baghdad. The project is being undertaken by the Qatari Investment Holding Group, specializing in real estate development and investment in tourist destinations.

During the review of the plans and models, Al-Sudani affirmed that the government is committed to making Iraq an ideal and attractive investment environment for capital investment. This aims to enable the Iraqi economy to open up and strengthen its ties with the global economy, which will, in turn, create job opportunities and open up further avenues for development.

The project, approved by the Council of Ministers in its previous session held on August 1st, includes the construction of a state-of-the-art hotel in Baghdad, a series of international restaurants, and presidential halls for local and international official events. Additionally, the complex will feature a number of vertical residential units with designs inspired by the history and civilization of Mesopotamia. The project spans an area of 19 dunams (approximately 4.7 acres) and is scheduled to be completed before 2025.
