Police arrest three suspects with 100 kilograms of Captagon pills

ERBIL, December 26 — The Erbil Directorate of Narcotics Affairs has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with drug trafficking and the possession of 100 kilograms of Captagon pills.

The directorate disclosed that the arrests were made as part of an investigation into an international drug trafficker in Erbil. Subsequent evidence led to collaboration with the Iraqi Federal Directorate of Narcotics, resulting in the arrest of two additional suspects in Dhi Qar governorate.

According to Erbil authorities, the two men were caught transporting the pills in the trunk of a car, indicating intentions to distribute them in other Iraqi cities.

Captagon is a psychostimulant Initially developed in 1961 to treat attention deficit disorder in children and as an alternative remedy for depression. However, in 1986, it was completely banned due to its potential for abuse and harmful effects.
