Iranian ambassador extends congratulatory message on end of elections

BAGHDAD, December 20 — Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad extended a message of congratulations to Iraqi voters with the end of provincial council elections on Monday.

In a statement posted to X (formerly known as Twitter), Ambassador Mohamad Kadhim Al-Sadiq said, “We extend our congratulations to our brethren in Iraq upon the conclusion of the provincial council elections—an expression of democracy within the country. We extend our best wishes to those who have earned the trust of the public, expressing our hope for a competition in delivering services to the honorable citizens.”

The congratulatory message coincided with the announcement of preliminary results by the Iraqi High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Tuesday evening.
