Iraqi special forces secure first place in international exercise

December 7 — Iraqi forces on Thursday secured a top spot among countries participating in the global Fajr Al-Sharq exercise for special forces held in Pakistan, securing first place.

The Ministry of Defense stated in a press release received by 964:

Iraqi Special Forces clinch the top position in the Fajr Al-Sharq exercise for global special forces held in the Republic of Pakistan, with significant participation from special forces of various countries worldwide. This marks the first participation of Iraqi Special Forces in 2023, with 27 officers and personnel from our heroic forces taking part in this exercise. After securing the first position, the heroes raised the Iraqi flag in the skies of Pakistan, expressing their pride and honor for their country, Iraq.
