Teen stabbed to death during fight on Kalar street
GARMIAN — A teenage boy was stabbed to death late Friday during a fight in Kalar’s Awara neighborhood, local authorities said.
Rafiq Qadir, director of Shahid Hajar Emergency Hospital, told 964media the victim was attacked during an altercation in the central part of Kalar, a city within the Garmian Autonomous Administration of Sulaymaniyah.
“The victim, a local resident, suffered five stab wounds and succumbed to his injuries,” Qadir said.
Police identified the deceased as Aryan Farhad, who was born in 2007. His body was taken to a forensic medical facility for further examination, according to a statement from the Garmian Police Directorate.
Authorities arrested the suspect, who was born in 2004, shortly after the stabbing.
“The individual has been detained by court order under Article 406,” the police statement read, referring to the Iraqi penal code provision addressing murder.
