Officials prepare for influx of tourists from southern cities

Kurdish authorities gear up for a busy holiday tourism season

ERBIL, November 30– The Kurdistan Region Tourism Board has initiated preparations for the upcoming New Year holidays, anticipating an influx of tourists, particularly from central and southern Iraq as observed in recent years.

Ibrahim Abdulmajid, spokesperson for the Board, told 964 that collaborative efforts with the private sector and local authorities are underway to formulate agendas for holiday festivities and to manage tourist arrivals.

Abdulmajid outlined plans for concerts featuring both local and international artists at concert halls and tourist venues, emphasizing discussions with local authorities on public arrangements.

The Kurdistan Region hosted over six million tourists in 2022, while the tally for this year stands at 4.5 million, and projections suggest the figure may potentially reach eight million.
