Kuwait and Iraq work to demarcate maritime borders

BAGHDAD, July 30 — Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Salem Jaber Al-Sabah, stated on Sunday that Kuwait is working with Iraq to demarcate the maritime borders between the two countries. He made this statement during a joint press conference with his counterpart, Fuad Hussein, in Baghdad.

Al-Sabah added that “Kuwait is keen to restore matters to their normal course in the historical trade relationship.” He also mentioned the opening of a commercial section at the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra.

He further expressed that there is “convergence of views” with the Iraqi side, confirming that Iraq is a neighboring country with strong historical ties to Kuwait.
