Iraq forecast to see stable weather over coming days

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Thursday that temperatures are expected to decline slightly before showing minor variations over the next four days, with generally clear conditions forecast across the country.

According to a statement, Friday’s weather will be clear nationwide. Northwesterly winds will be light to moderate, increasing to 40 km/h in eastern parts of central and southern Iraq and causing light dust conditions.

The authority said visibility will range between 8 and 10 kilometers, dropping to 4–6 kilometers in areas affected by dust.

Forecast high temperatures for Friday are expected to reach 35°C in Duhok and Sulaymaniyah, 36°C in Erbil, 38°C in Nineveh, 39°C in Kirkuk and Anbar, and 40°C in Baghdad, Salah al-Din, Diyala and Karbala.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 41°C in Babil and Wasit, 42°C in Diwaniyah, Najaf, Maysan and Muthanna, 43°C in Dhi Qar, and 44°C in Basra.

The authority said Saturday will remain generally clear, with some cloud cover expected in the Kurdistan Region. Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly in central and southern regions while remaining steady in the north.

Weather conditions on Sunday and Monday are expected to be clear with some clouds across the country, while temperatures will remain close to the levels recorded on the previous days.
