Two brothers sought after killing sibling and nephew in Diyala land dispute
DIYALA — Diyala Police Command said Sunday it is pursuing two brothers accused of killing their third brother and his son and wounding a fourth brother in Barwana village in Muqdadiyah district following a dispute over agricultural land.
“Initial information indicates that the crime was committed by two brothers of the victims, who opened fire on them because of those disputes, resulting in the death of two people and the injury of a third,” the police media department said.
Security forces launched investigative and field operations under the direct supervision of Diyala Police Commander Lt. Gen. Mohammed Kazem Atiyah, with a specialized team formed to pursue the suspects. “The perpetrators fled to one of the northern governorates,” the statement said, adding that one of the suspects holds British citizenship. Authorities said they are continuing intensive efforts to monitor the suspects’ movements and bring them before the courts.
Police said further details will be announced once investigative procedures are completed.
