Dust and light rain expected in parts of Iraq on Saturday

BAGHDAD — Iraq will see mostly clear skies on Saturday, though light rain is possible in parts of the Kurdistan Region before subsiding overnight, and eastern areas of the south face gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour with light dust storms, the General Authority for Meteorology forecast.

Temperatures will remain close to Friday’s levels across most cities, with eastern parts of the southern region seeing a drop of several degrees. Conditions will be hot during the day and more moderate in the early morning and overnight hours.

Northwesterly winds will blow at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour nationwide, strengthening in the eastern south during the day. Horizontal visibility will range between 8 and 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 kilometers in dusty areas before improving in the evening. Cloud cover will increase at times in the far north, where the rain chance is concentrated.
