Four drones strike Bazarkan oil field in Maysan
BAGHDAD — Four drones struck storage facilities at the Bazarkan oil field north of Maysan governorate Saturday evening, Maysan Oil Company said, with no casualties among company employees.
“Unidentified groups targeted Iraqi storage facilities at the Bazarkan oil field this evening,” the company said, urging workers to follow safety protocols “in light of the current challenges and conditions.”
The strike follows a drone falling onto storage facilities belonging to a foreign oil company in the Burjesia area of Basra earlier the same day. Iraq’s energy sector has faced a series of drone-related incidents in recent weeks — a drone fell inside the Majnoon oil field on March 28 without exploding, forces shot down an unidentified drone over Kirkuk on March 26, and three drones fell near oil infrastructure in Dibis district on March 12 without causing damage. No group has claimed responsibility for any of the attacks.
