Kurdistan Region schools and universities to reopen Sunday after weeks-long closure

ERBIL — The Kurdistan Region’s ministries of Higher Education and Education announced Friday that all schools, institutes and universities will resume classes on Sunday, March 29, following a weeks-long closure linked to the regional war.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting between the two ministries, which said separate statements outlining detailed procedures would follow.

The Kurdistan Regional Government had extended the suspension of educational institutions until at least March 23, citing safety concerns amid the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. The closure coincided with the region’s annual spring break, which normally runs from March 11 to March 23, effectively keeping students out of classrooms for an extended period.
