SDF commander Mazloum Abdi offers condolences over Iranian missile strike
NEWSROOM — Syrian Democratic Forces commander Mazloum Abdi expressed condolences Tuesday to the Kurdish people and Peshmerga forces following the deaths of six fighters in an Iranian ballistic missile strike near Soran.
“We share the grief with the Kurdish people in the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces over the martyrdom of their heroes,” Abdi wrote on X, offering condolences to Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, regional officials and the families of those killed, with wishes for a speedy recovery for the wounded.
Six Iranian ballistic missiles struck Peshmerga positions near Soran in two separate attacks early Tuesday, killing six fighters and wounding about 30 others. Two fighters remain missing. Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani condemned the strike as unjustifiable, while Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani called it “a direct hostile aggression against the sovereignty of the country” and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said the KRG “will take all measures to counter this hostility.”
