Legal action threatened
Peshmerga Ministry denies report it shelled PMF’s 50th Brigade in Nineveh
ERBIL — Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga Ministry on Sunday denied what it says were reports broadcast by Alawla TV that Peshmerga forces had attacked the PMF’s 50th Brigade in Nineveh, calling the report false and threatening legal action against the channel.
The ministry said Peshmerga forces are coordinating with other Iraqi security forces, including the PMF, to protect Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and categorically denied any attack or confrontation between the two forces.
It said it reserves its legal right to file a complaint against Alawla TV for broadcasting the report, accusing the channel of deliberately spreading discord and undermining political and community stability among Iraq’s components.
The denial comes at a particularly sensitive moment, as Iraq faces escalating tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory missile and drone launches across the region.
