Clear skies expected in Iraq this week with rain in north

BAGHDAD — Iraq will see generally clear conditions this week, with rain expected in the northern region Tuesday, the General Authority for Meteorology said.

Monday will be clear with some clouds, increasing at intervals in the north where skies will be partly to mostly cloudy at times. Fog will form in limited areas of the north before dissipating during the day. Temperatures will be close to Sunday’s readings, with cold conditions at night and moderate weather during the day.

Winds will be northwesterly at 10 to 20 km/h in central and southern areas, shifting to southeasterly in western parts of the central region. Visibility will be 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 4 to 6 kilometers in the morning and below 1 kilometer in fog.

Tuesday will be partly to mostly cloudy in central and northern regions, with light to moderate rain, sometimes thundery, in the north. The south will be clearer with some clouds. Temperatures will rise slightly in the central region.

Wednesday will be clear with some clouds. Winds will be southeasterly, becoming more active in eastern parts of central and southern regions at 30 to 40 km/h. Temperatures will rise slightly.

Thursday will be clear with some clouds. Southeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly during the day. Temperatures will decrease slightly in central and northern regions.

Friday will be generally clear with some clouds. Northwesterly winds at 20 to 30 km/h. Temperatures will hold steady in central and southern areas and rise slightly in the north.
