Clouds, rain forecast across Iraq with snow expected in Kurdistan Region

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Meteorological Authority reported Saturday that partly to fully cloudy weather is expected across the country throughout the week, with rain showers that could intensify at times into heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The authority said temperatures will drop by several degrees compared with the previous day across all regions.

Northwesterly winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds, with active gusts reaching up to 45 kilometers per hour, which could raise dust in the southwestern parts of the country.

Morning visibility is forecast to decline due to mist to about 4 to 6 kilometers, and could fall further to about 2 to 4 kilometers in dusty areas.

The authority also forecast snowfall in mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region.
