Partial cloud cover, rising temperatures in south

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology released a detailed weather report Thursday, suggesting partial cloud cover across much of the country, with rain and snow in the Kurdistan Region, and a slight temperature increase in central and southern regions.

According to the authority’s forecast division, partial cloudiness will prevail in the central and southern regions, while the northern areas will see cloudier conditions. Light to moderate rain is likely in northern areas, along with moderate snowfall over mountainous terrain, extending to lower elevations in parts of Duhok, northern Nineveh, and Sulaymaniyah.

Temperatures are expected to rise by a few degrees in the central and southern regions compared to Wednesday, with a slight increase also forecast for the north. Daytime conditions will remain cold, with very cold weather continuing during the morning and nighttime hours.

Winds will be moderate from the southeast at speeds ranging between 20–30 km/h. In the western parts of the central region, winds will shift to moderate to active southwesterlies at 30–40 km/h, potentially stirring up dust and sand.

Visibility will generally range from 8 to 10 kilometers but may drop to between 2 and 4 kilometers in dusty areas, and down to 1–2 kilometers in locations affected by heavy rainfall or snowfall.
