Cold snap, fog continue across Iraq with more snow expected in northeast

BAGHDAD — Iraq is experiencing cold weather on Tuesday, with scattered clouds over central and southern areas and partly cloudy conditions in the Kurdistan Region, as light rain and snowfall are forecast in northeastern parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Authority.

The authority said light rain will continue in the northeast during the morning, with light to moderate snowfall expected.

Temperatures are forecast to be slightly lower than Monday in the northern and central regions, with a sharper drop in the south. Conditions will remain cold during the day and very cold in the early morning and overnight.

Winds in central and southern areas will be northwesterly, light to moderate, at 10 to 20 km/h, becoming variable and calm at night.

Visibility is expected to range from 6 to 8 kilometers in most areas, dropping to 4 to 6 kilometers in haze and falling below 1 kilometer in places affected by dense fog, the authority said.
