Sculptures go up for "Beautiful Baghdad" campaign
Residents call for quick repairs on Zain Al-Qaws Street in Sadr City
BAGHDAD, November 9 — Residents of Sadr City are calling for swift repairs on Zain Al-Qaws Street, as the local municipal department says it’s working to install unique and exclusive sculptures along the road as part of a “Beautiful Baghdad” campaign.
As part of the initiative, Al-Sadr Second Municipality installed light sculptures on Zain Al-Qaws Street, Faleka 83, Al-Sadrain Square, and Al-Amal Street.
Abu Ali, an area resident, shared, “The municipality has initiated maintenance on Faleka 83, but progress is slow, and none of the lights in the square are functioning, except for the sculptures.”
The Al-Sadr Second Municipality’s press office released a statement that said:
We conducted a trial operation for the lighting of the sculptures on Zain Al-Qaws Street, and the experiment was successful. Continuous development work is underway with four work teams to expedite the rehabilitation stages, emphasizing the importance of these streets.
In Al-Sadrain Square, we erected a sculpture called Al-Tharia, and we are still in the maintenance and reconstruction phase. These sculptures are unique, exclusively designed for Al-Sadr Second District, and will not be replicated elsewhere.
Any lighting-related errors will be rectified before permanent activation.
