Preacher dies in Erbil hospital after injuries from gas explosion
ERBIL — Mullah Tahsin Abdulla, a preacher and religious figure at Bastora Mosque, died Wednesday evening in Erbil’s Emergency Hospital following injuries sustained in a recent gas explosion, according to his family and hospital officials.
Nawzad Ahmad, a relative of the cleric, told 964media, “Several days ago, Mullah Tahsin was injured in a gas explosion and was admitted to Emergency Hospital. After spending several days there, he passed away today.”
Ahmad said Abdulla’s body was buried in Bastora cemetery.
Karwan Tofiq, director of Emergency Hospital, confirmed the death, telling 964media that the cleric had been brought in more than 10 days earlier. “He had sustained severe burns from a gas explosion.”
A woman died in a gas explosion in the Zarayan subdistrict of Sharazur, Sulaymaniyah, with her body transferred to forensic medicine for further examination, local health officials said Tuesday.
A gas cylinder exploded in a house in the Awbara neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah on Saturday, injuring the homeowner and causing significant damage to the property.
