Gas explosion kills woman in Sulaymaniyah’s Sharazur district

SULAYMANIYAH — A woman died in a gas explosion in the Zarayan subdistrict of Sharazur, Sulaymaniyah, with her body transferred to forensic medicine for further examination, local health officials said Tuesday.

Kamal Kaka Ahmed, head of public relations at Shahid Raouf Beg Hospital, told 964media that the hospital recently received the body of a woman who died in the explosion. The woman was 33 years old.

Authorities have not released additional details about the cause of the explosion.

A gas cylinder exploded in a house in the Awbara neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah on Saturday morning, injuring the homeowner and causing significant damage to the property.
