Najaf police deny reports of desert raid and drone seizure
NAJAF — Najaf Police Command on Monday denied social media claims that security forces carried out a desert raid and seized drones or other violations, saying no such operation took place and that the governorate remains secure.
The command said some platforms had reported “a raid in the Najaf desert and the seizure of drones and various violations,” but called the information false.
“There was no operation of the mentioned type, and no drones or illegal activities were recorded within the administrative boundaries of the governorate,” the statement said, adding that “there is no unusual deployment in the old city or throughout the governorate.”
Police said Najaf “is witnessing a high level of stability,” and that security, intelligence and police units, supported by the Imam Ali Division, continue routine patrols and monitoring activity in the desert “to track and observe any unlawful activity,” describing the measures as standard.
The command said areas of responsibility are fully secured and that there are no threats affecting residents or religious or vital locations in the governorate. It urged social media outlets and media organizations to verify information with official sources before publishing.
