High pressure system keeps Iraq clear and cool

BAGHDAD — A high-pressure system is sustaining stable and mostly clear weather across Iraq, with only scattered high clouds moving over parts of the Kurdistan Region, the Meteorological Authority said Wednesday.

Temperatures are largely unchanged in central and southern governorates, with slight decreases recorded in some areas. Northern regions are seeing a modest drop, with cold conditions in the early morning and at night and milder temperatures during the day. Mountainous areas remain significantly colder.

Winds are northwesterly at light to moderate levels, ranging from 10 to 20 kph, with calmer periods expected in northern and western regions.

Horizontal visibility generally ranges from 8 to 10 kilometers but dips to between 5 and 7 kilometers in northern areas during the morning due to light fog.
