4.1-Magnitude earthquake recorded in Wasit province, Iraq

WASIT, November 5 — The seismological observatories at the General Authority of Meteorology and Seismological Monitoring recorded an earthquake in Wasit, with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale on Sunday.

Statement from the Ministry of Transport received by Network 964:

“The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announces that the seismological observatories at the General Authority of Meteorology and Seismological Monitoring recorded an earthquake on Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Wasit province.

According to their report, the earthquake was recorded at exactly 12:03:31 local time and had a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale. It occurred near the Iraq-Iran border, approximately 6 kilometers north of the Badrah district in Wasit province.

They mentioned that the earthquake was felt by citizens, but no significant losses were reported. Further updates will be provided in case of any developments.”
