Clear skies expected across Iraq with slight temperature drop

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s cities are expected to see mostly clear skies Monday with occasional clouds over central and northern regions, according to the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring. The forecast said weather conditions are influenced by a high-pressure system extending over the country.

Temperatures are expected to fall slightly by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in central and southern areas compared with Sunday, while remaining steady in the north.

Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate, ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, with calm periods likely in eastern areas.

The authority said horizontal visibility will generally range between 8 and 10 kilometers but may temporarily drop to 5 to 7 kilometers in the morning because of haze and suspended pollutants over central and southern regions.

“The weather will remain clear overall with scattered clouds at intervals in the central and northern regions due to the influence of a high-pressure system,” the authority said.
