Sudani calls for emergency OIC session to address regional war
BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met Sunday with Muhammad Samir al-Naqshbandi, director general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to discuss the ongoing regional war and directed the Foreign Ministry to coordinate with the OIC to convene an emergency virtual session of its Executive Council.
Sudani emphasized “the importance of urgent and effective action to defuse crises and lay the foundations for security and stability in the region,” and stressed the need for greater coordination among OIC member states to protect shared interests.
The OIC is a 57-member intergovernmental body representing Muslim-majority countries, headquartered in Jeddah.
