Interior minister approves new navy uniform for Iraq’s emergency police
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari has approved replacing the current olive and dark brown uniforms used by emergency police directorates in Baghdad and other governorates with a navy-blue uniform, according to an official document reviewed by 964media.
The directive, signed by Deputy Interior Minister for Police Affairs Lt. Gen. Hussein Abdul Hadi Kamal on Nov. 1, 2025, instructs all emergency police directorates to adopt the new design across Iraq.
The order includes coordination with the Military Supply Department and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to produce and distribute the uniforms according to approved specifications.
The decision marks the first comprehensive uniform change for Iraq’s emergency police in years. Officers currently wear olive and dark brown attire, which will be gradually replaced once manufacturing and distribution begin.
