Thunderstorms continue in Duhok, light rain expected in Erbil and Nineveh

DUHOK — Thunderstorms and scattered rain continued for a second day in Duhok on Wednesday, with chances of light to moderate showers in Erbil and northern areas of Nineveh and Sulaymaniyah, according to a report from the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring.

“The weather will be clear with scattered clouds at intervals in the central and southern regions, while the northern region will see partly to mostly cloudy skies, with thunderstorms in Duhok and chances of light to moderate rain in areas of Erbil and northern parts of Nineveh and Sulaymaniyah during daytime hours,” the report said.

Temperatures across Iraq are expected to rise slightly by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, bringing cool conditions in the morning and evening, moderate weather during the day, and colder temperatures in mountainous areas.

Winds will be southeasterly and light to moderate at 10–20 kilometers per hour, tending to calm at intervals, except in eastern parts of the country where they will be northwesterly and moderate, becoming calm at night, the report added.

Horizontal visibility will range between 8 and 10 kilometers, decreasing in the morning due to light haze, higher air pollution levels, and rainfall to around 5 to 7 kilometers.
