Worker killed in fuel tanker explosion at Piramagrun welding shop
SULAYMANIYAH — A 25-year-old man was killed Saturday when a fuel tanker exploded at an industrial welding shop in Piramagrun, officials said.
Mohammed Salar, director of Piramagrun Hospital, told 964media that “a worker at a welding shop was repairing the upper section of a fuel tanker when it exploded, causing his immediate death.” He said the victim had been working at his father’s shop at the time of the blast.
The victim’s body was transferred to the Sulaymaniyah Forensic Medicine Department for examination before being returned to his family.
The incident follows a similar explosion on Oct. 13 in Duhok, where two men were killed and two others injured when a fuel tank exploded at a workshop in the Kawashi area of Simele district.
