Nechirvan Barzani welcomes announced US-Iran agreement
ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday welcomed the announcement of an agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that all parties would work toward its implementation to support stability and prosperity across the region.
“I welcome the announcement of the deal between the United States and Iran,” Barzani said in a statement.
He added that he hoped “all parties will work in good faith toward the full implementation of the agreement, aiming to strengthen regional stability, security, and prosperity.”
Barzani also thanked those involved in reaching the understanding, saying, “I extend my sincere appreciation to all those who played a role in facilitating and supporting this achievement.”
The statement came after the United States and Iran announced a framework agreement that includes a ceasefire and a commitment to further negotiations. According to details released by the parties involved, the arrangement is expected to keep maritime routes open, reduce military tensions, and provide a period for talks on Iran’s nuclear program and related issues.
While officials from both countries have presented the announcement as a step toward de-escalation, details of the agreement remain limited and a final signed text has yet to be publicly released. Iranian officials have said the full document will be published after formal signing procedures are completed.
