5 billion dollars loss

Kurdistan Regional president highlights impact of oil export halt on Iraq

BAGHDAD, November 4 — Kurdish media reported on Friday that the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stated that the halt of oil exports from the Kurdistan region has caused Iraq a loss of $5 billion. He emphasized that the resumption of oil exports depends on Baghdad.

Nechirvan Barzani affirmed during a press conference held after his meeting with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, that “the resumption of oil exports depends on Baghdad.” He added, “I do not say that the non-resumption of oil exports is a political matter, but a technical one. The halt of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region has resulted in a $5 billion loss for Iraq.”
