U.S. ambassador in Baghdad collaborating with Kurdistan leaders to safeguard American interests

ERBIL, November 2 — United States Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski, visited the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Thursday to emphasize Washington’s commitment to the region, acknowledging “productive discussions” with Kurdish leaders.

In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Romanowski said, “I visited IKR Nov 1 to emphasize the US commitment to the region, ensure continued security cooperation, and work together to prevent attacks on US interests,” adding that she appreciated discussions held with Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) head Bafel Talabani.
