Iraqi, Iranian officials discuss regional security in Baghdad meeting
BAGHDAD – Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji on Tuesday met with Majid Mir Ahmadi, head of military intelligence of Iran’s armed forces, in Baghdad. The talks, attended by delegations from both sides, focused on regional security issues and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Al-Araji’s office said the meeting included “a review of security challenges and threats in the region, as well as files of mutual interest and the measures taken by both countries to maintain security and stability on the basis of good neighborliness.”

National Security Advisor Mr. Qasim Al-Araji received on Tuesday, in his office, the Head of Military Intelligence of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Majid Mir Ahmadi, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting addressed a review of security challenges and threats in the region in general, as well as files of mutual interest and the measures taken by both countries to maintain security and stability between the two states on the basis of good neighborliness, part of which falls under the security agreement signed between the two countries. The discussions also included the procedures that must be taken to preserve the security and stability of the region.
Mr. Al-Araji affirmed that the position of the Republic of Iraq is clear and firm in rejecting the use of Iraqi territory as a launchpad for attacks against neighboring countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran. He pointed out that Iraq has submitted an official complaint to the United Nations Security Council against the Zionist entity for using its airspace in an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, reiterating that the Iraqi government, represented by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such an attack.
