Fishing prohibited in Sulaymaniyah’s Diwana Lake to safeguard fingerlings

SULAYMANIYAH, November 1 — Sulaymaniyah Forest Police have imposed a two-year ban on fishing in Diwana Lake in Darbandikhan district, to protect  fingerlings released in the area.

A statement from the Sulaymaniyah Forest and Environment Police said:

A batch of fingerlings has been released into Diwana Lake, and to protect them, fishing will be prohibited for a period of two years. Afterward, fishermen will be allowed to resume their work.

At the same time, the Darbandikhan Forest Police squad confiscated eight fishing nets, one inflatable boat, and two fishing lines, returning 72 live fish to the lake.
