Police arrest suspects in assault on school principal in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Baghdad Operations Command announced Wednesday the arrest of five people accused of assaulting a school principal during working hours in Sadr City.

A statement from the command said a unit from the 5th Federal Police Division “responded immediately after receiving information about a fight inside a school.” The unit detained all those involved in the incident.

The injured principal was taken to Al-Shaheed Al-Sadr Hospital for treatment. Legal procedures were initiated against the suspects after the principal’s family filed a formal complaint.

In a separate case, Karbala police said Wednesday they arrested a parent accused of assaulting a teacher at the private Nusour al-Durra School.
