Nature's resilient flower
Sulaymaniyah nurseries flourish with daisies ahead of the winter season
SULAYMANIYAH, November 1 — Nurseries in Sulaymaniyah this season are filled with Daisy flowers, also locally known as Dawadi, as they can withstand colder temperatures with the onset of winter.
Lasting until the end of December, one local vendor reports that the price for a seedling is currently 10,000 Iraqi dinars.
Nursery owner Abdullah Rasul said the Dawadi are abundantly available across the city’s nurseries, as nearly other flowers cease growing during this season.
“Daisies are available and continue to bloom until the end of December. Afterward, the flowers fall off, only to bloom again in the spring,” he explained.
Rasul continued, “All other flowers have disappeared due to the cold weather several weeks ago, leaving the Daisy as the only one remaining in the nurseries.”
The price seedlings range from 4,000 to 10,000 dinars, depending on their size.
