Second Akre local products festival to launch September 18
DUHOK – The Directorate of Agriculture in Duhok said the second Akre Local Products Festival will open Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, showcasing agricultural goods from the area.
The three-day event will feature grapes, figs, pistachios, tomatoes, and other produce from Akre farmers. Organizers said the festival aims to promote domestic products and strengthen their presence in local markets.
The festival will be held at Akre’s new wholesale market, beginning at noon Thursday and running through Saturday, Sept. 21.
The announcement comes as Duhok continues its 18th annual grape and honey festival under the slogan “Duhok, the source of domestic production.”
Official data from the governorate show harvest fluctuations in recent years: 77,000 tons of grapes and nearly 150 tons of honey in 2022; 60,000 tons of grapes and 250 tons of honey in 2023; and a rebound to nearly 80,000 tons of grapes last year, while honey output fell.
