Iraqi embassy in Beirut to launch mandatory online booking for consular services next month

NEWSROOM — The Iraqi Embassy in Beirut said Saturday it will require all applicants to book appointments online for consular services starting Sept. 1, with no walk-ins allowed.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Beirut announces the adoption of the electronic booking system to complete consular transactions as of Sept. 1, 2025” it said in a statement. “Electronic booking is mandatory, and no applicants will be received without prior booking starting 1-9-2025.”

Applicants must register through the official portal at icass.mofa.gov.iq, select the Beirut embassy, choose their service, and confirm their appointment by email. Each applicant, including family members visiting on the same day, must book separately.

The embassy said applicants should arrive 30 minutes early with the required documents. Bookings cannot be postponed or canceled once confirmed, and missed appointments must be rescheduled through the platform. It also stressed that only personal emails and contact information should be used. “Entering information for others may result in cancellation,” it said.

The embassy emphasized the service is free and designed to cut waiting times. It warned the public not to deal with “offices, entities, or individuals claiming to represent it or facilitate its transactions,” saying all procedures are handled solely through official channels.
